Decrease in neuropathic disorders with the somatosensory rehabilitation - Swiss Medical Review
Crural neuralgia is a clinical condition rather frequent and disabling. There are many clinical forms due to anatomical variations of different cutaneous branches of saphenous and femoral nerves.
Neuroplasticity in the somatosensory system has now been demonstrated and can better understand how the Somatosensory Rehabilitation works.
The different stages of the management of patients with femoral neuropathy are explained accurately. The different strategies of treatment of sensory reeducation are mentioned. Drug treatment of peripheral neuropathic pain are briefly reviewed.
Finally, the outcome of rehabilitation of sensory cruralgia (NNT = 1.8) is documented on the basis of a prospective study including 59 patients followed.
